We need to teach children to listen better in order to
- make meaning
- identify gist and details of information
- identify individual sentences, words, dialogue and instructions
How can we tell if children understand what they have heard? By how they respond and that response can be non-verbal (listen and do, listen and draw) or verbal (listen and speak or listen and write).
All these listening activities will help your students to practise and improve their ability to make meaning and demonstrate their understanding to you.
