If you are a teacher, curriculum leader or administrator of a community language school in Western Australia, or you are a parent who wants their children to learn and use another language then this website is for you. 

PATHWAYS TO IMPROVEMENT (PIP) PROGRAM

OMI expects all schools to have completed their portfolios by 30 June 2020.Keep in touch with your PIP evaluator for advice and assistance.

The current professional learning workshop program has been in place since 2016 and is now ending. The final workshop will be held on Wednesday 11 November 2020. The organisers of the PL program, Lindy Norris and Moya McLauchlan, have appreciated the support of the OMI, AIM WA and all the teachers and leaders of community language schools who have attended workshops over the past five years. We wish all schools, teachers and students every success as you continue to learn and improve.

The Office of Multicultural Interests will announce plans for 2021 and inform all schools.

Tell me now; show me how to be a good language teacher.

Presenter – Moya McLauchlan

This is the essential first workshop for community language teachers. Participants will be introduced to the features of quality language teaching including contemporary theory (‘tell me now’), and best practice (‘show me how’). Workshop activities focus on identifying what to teach, how to teach, how to engage students, and how to keep them interested in learning the language.
